Points de vIe is a French-language publication devoted to political and social current affairs, with a particular focus on France, Switzerland, Europe and international issues.

The name Points de vIe is a play on the French expression points de vue — “points of view”. By replacing vue (“view”) with vie (“life”), it suggests perspectives rooted not only in ideas and opinions, but also in lived experience.

Its guiding principle is simple: to understand disagreements and look for what connects us. The aim is not to erase differences or avoid controversy, but to make opposing views more intelligible, to place them in context, and to explore what may still be shared across political, social and cultural divides.

Points de vIe is an independent personal publication. It does not seek to defend a party line, but to offer a clearly stated point of view while remaining attentive to other perspectives.

The site publishes two main formats: longer analyses, based on a range of sources and perspectives, and shorter, more personal commentaries on current events. The subjects covered include politics, democracy, society, rights and freedoms, technology, ideas and major international developments.

About the author

Marc Aellen is a former journalist and currently works as a translator and interpreter. Swiss by nationality and based in France, he has lived and worked in several European countries and beyond Europe, and follows political and social developments from a deliberately cross-border and humanist perspective.
